Pu Ji Xiao Du Yin by Blue Poppy’s Great Nature Classics is a
formula that comes from Li Dong-yuans Song dynasty Dong Yuan Shi Xiao Fang
(Dong-yuans Tried & Effective Formulas).
Within this formula, Huang Lian and Huang Qin clear and drain heat toxins from
the upper burner.
Niu Bang Zi, Lian Qiao, Bo He, and Bai Jiang Can dispel wind and clear heat
from the upper burner, head, and face.
Xuan Shen, Ma Bo, Ban Lan Gen, Jie Geng, and Gan Cao together clear heat and
resolve toxins as well as free the flow of the throat.
Actions: Clears Heat, resolves toxins, dispels pathogenic Wind, cools the
Blood, moistens the throat.
Pattern: Seasonal epidemic toxins associated with wind heat and damp toxins.
Contraindications: Prolonged use may cause stomach upset or loose stools. Do
not give to very cold or shivering patients. Caution during pregnancy. Not
appropriate in deficiency cases.
Chinese Symptomology: Epidemic Wind-Heat toxin, pediatric conditions, skin
infections with fever, acute influenza and severe common cold.
