Si Jun Zi Tang by Blue Poppy’s Great Nature Classics is a
formula that comes from Song Dynasty Tai Ping Hui Men He Hi Ju Fang (Tai Ping
Imperical Grace Formulary).
Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng) is the sovereign medicinal in this formula. It is
sweet, warm, and greatly supplements the source or original qi. It also
fortifies the spleen and nourishes the stomach.
Bai Zhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) is the minister. It is bitter,
warm, and fortifies the spleen and dries dampness.
The assistant is Fu Ling (Poria) which is sweet and bland, seeps dampness and
fortifies the spleen. Used together, Fu Ling and Bai Zhus ability to fortify
the spleen and eliminate dampness are strengthened, thus promoting movement and
transformation.
The messenger or guide in this formula is mixfried Gan Cao (Radix
Glycyrrhizae). It is sweet, warm, and regulates the center.
Action: Supplements the source or original qi, fortifies the spleen, nourishes
the stomach, and dries dampness.
Pattern: Spleen qi vacuity Tongue: An enlarged tongue with teeth-marks on its
edges and/or cracks in its center
Pulse: A forceless, possibly fine pulse
Contraindications: Use with care in case of concomitant heat or dryness.
Chinese Symptomology: Fatigue, Lack of strength, Dizziness standing up, Easy
bruising, Shortness of breath, Possible lack of appetite, Possible loose stools.
Western Symptomology: Gastrointestinal
weakness, indigestion, chronic gastritis, anemia, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea.
Suggested Use:
Adults take 3 capsules 2 times per day or as directed by your healthcare
practitioner.
