Li Zhong Wan by Blue Poppy’s Great Nature Classics is a
formula that comes from Zhang Zhong-jings late Han dynasty Shang Han Lun
(Treatise on Damage [Due to] Cold).
Within this formula, Ren Shen, Bai Zhu, and mix-fried Gan Cao fortify the
spleen and supplement the qi, while Gan Jiang
warms yang.
Actions: Fortifies the spleen and warms the middle
Pattern: Middle burner yang vacuity
Tongue: Pale tongue, white coating
Pulse: Submerged, thin
Branch: Spleen, Stomach
Contraindications: Because this formula contains ingredients that warm and dry,
it should not be used for externally-contracted conditions with fever or yin
deficiency. For sudden turmoil disorder, its use should be discontinued once
the vomiting and diarrhea have stopped.
Chinese Symptomology: Signs & symptoms of middle burner yang vacuity
include: Diarrhea with watery stools, nausea and vomiting, no thirst, lack of
appetite, abdominal pain liking warmth and pressure, a pale tongue with white
fur, a deep, forceless pulse.
Suggested Use:
